Purposes of Practicum

My internship exchange at Valaya Alongkorn Rajabhat University (VRU) was a transformative experience that pushed me beyond my comfort zone as a secondary teacher. Coming into the program, I had always seen myself as someone more suited for teaching older students, and I lacked the confidence to handle younger learners. However, this opportunity allowed me to step into unfamiliar territory and discover that I am capable of adapting my teaching style to suit different age groups. By thoughtfully planning my lessons, adjusting my methods, and drawing from various teaching strategies I learned that with patience, creativity, and the right approach, I could effectively engage younger students as well. This experience not only broadened my teaching skills but also helped me grow personally, reminding

me that growth often happens when we challenge our own limitations.

Procedures of Practicum

Valaya Alongkorn Rajabhat University (VRU) showed strong preparation in receiving the SEA Teacher participants for the practicum. They provided clear guidelines and orientation materials to help students adjust smoothly. The university coordinated effectively with partner schools, ensuring appropriate placements that matched students' academic backgrounds. They also arranged accommodations, transportation, and assigned local buddies to support cultural adaptation. Overall, VRU’s organized and welcoming approach reflected their commitment to providing a meaningful and supportive practicum experience.

Outcomes of the Practicum

The SEA Teacher program at VRU provided valuable hands-on teaching experience and cultural exchange that enhanced both professional and personal growth. It allowed participants to develop classroom management skills, adapt to diverse learning environments, and build meaningful connections with students and mentors. Overall, the program fostered greater confidence and cross-cultural understanding essential for future educators.

Suggestions for future improvement

For future enhancement of the program, it is respectfully suggested to consider extending the observation period prior to teaching. This would allow student teachers more time to become familiar with the classroom setting, teaching strategies, and student dynamics. Additionally, including more cultural tours and local immersion activities would greatly enrich the overall experience. Such opportunities would help participants gain a deeper understanding and appreciation of Thai culture and traditions. These adjustments could further strengthen the program’s impact on the personal and professional growth of student teachers.

Overall impression

The faculty of Valaya Alongkorn Rajabhat University (VRU) made the practicum experience truly memorable through their warmth, professionalism, and unwavering support. Their genuine hospitality and dedication created a welcoming environment where student teachers felt guided, valued, and cared for. VRU provided not just academic mentorship, but also emotional comfort and cultural connection. Because of the kindness and openness of the faculty, VRU became a home far away from home. It is a place where learning, growth, and meaningful relationships flourish.
